Stamped concrete (also known as “textured concrete,” “textured stamped concrete” and “imprinted concrete”) is concrete that’s molded to resemble something else – like wood, brick, stone or tile. The concrete can be given a base color and accent color additive, creating a unique and beautiful look and adding a splash of color to your outdoor area. The pattern is stamped into the concrete mix, which cures to become one solid surface. This gives stamped concrete a much longer lifespan than paved stone, but still closely replicates the look.
The pattern in the stamped concrete is made by imprinting the concrete shortly after it has been poured with a concrete stamp. Most concrete stamps are made of polyurethane, which allows natural stone texture to be imprinted into the uncured concrete. Once the concrete has been poured and the color release applied, concrete stamps are pushed into the concrete and then carefully removed to leave the desired pattern.
In most cases, concrete stamping is made to look like ordinary building products such as flagstone, brick, natural stone. However, with stamped concrete, the possibilities are endless.
